Why Download Streaming Content?
Downloading videos from streaming services for offline viewing is one of the most useful features available — and it's completely legal when done through official apps. Whether you're on a long flight, commuting underground, or trying to save mobile data, offline downloads let you watch your favorite content anywhere.
Here's how to do it on the three biggest platforms.
How to Download on Netflix
- Open the Netflix app on your phone or tablet (iOS or Android). Downloads are not available on desktop browsers.
- Find a title that supports downloads. Look for the download icon (an arrow pointing downward) on the title page.
- Tap the download icon. The video will begin downloading to your device.
- Access downloads by tapping the Downloads tab at the bottom of the screen.
Netflix Download Tips
- Downloads are available on Standard and Premium plans (not Basic with Ads).
- You can adjust download quality in Settings → App Settings → Download Quality (choose Standard or High).
- Most titles expire after 7 days or 48 hours after you first press play — whichever comes first.
- The Netflix Windows 10/11 app does support downloads on PC.
How to Download on Disney+
- Open the Disney+ app on iOS, Android, or the Windows app.
- Navigate to any movie or episode and look for the download icon on the detail page.
- Tap Download. For a series, you can download individual episodes or entire seasons.
- Find your downloads under the Downloads section in your profile menu.
Disney+ Download Tips
- Downloads are included on all paid Disney+ plans.
- You can download up to 25 items per device across a maximum of 10 devices.
- Downloaded content must be refreshed (device connected to internet) periodically to remain accessible.
How to Download on Amazon Prime Video
- Open the Prime Video app on your device.
- Find the title you want. Not all content is available for download — eligible titles show a download icon.
- Tap the Download button. For series, select specific episodes.
- Access downloads via the Downloads icon in the bottom navigation bar.
Amazon Prime Download Tips
- Prime members can download most Prime-included titles at no extra cost.
- Rentals and purchases can also be downloaded within the rental/ownership window.
- Fire tablets have native, deep integration with Prime Video downloads.
General Tips for All Platforms
- Use Wi-Fi to download — these files can be several gigabytes in size.
- Check available storage before downloading a full season of a show.
- Lower quality = smaller files. If storage is tight, choose Standard rather than High/Ultra HD.
- Downloads are DRM-protected and tied to the app — you cannot transfer them to other devices or software.
What You Cannot Do
Downloaded content from official apps cannot be exported, screenshotted, or played outside the platform's app. Attempting to bypass these restrictions using third-party software violates each platform's Terms of Service and may violate copyright law. Always download through official channels.
